Simply place the arbor of the bore sight into the barrel of your weapon; the base will attach magnetically with the retractable arbor centering the bore sight automatically. A laser dot will show exactly where your gun is aiming making it easy to sight in any scope without firing a single shot. Live fire is only needed to fine tune the weapon being sighted in order to compensate for inconsistencies, such as bullet drop due to distance. A lightweight carrying pouch protects the bore sight for convenient use in the field. The Sightmark Triple Duty Universal bore sight is protected by a Limited Lifetime Warranty. Turning ON issues: Ensure that the batteries are installed properly, and the open end of the sleeve installed opposite of the switch. Ensure that the sleeve rests centered in the compartment and not stuck on the lip at the back of the compartment preventing it from making contact with the switch. If the boresight still does not power up with new batteries installed properly, then the unit can be brought in to check and replaced under warranty. Fitting and Centering issue: Special muzzle breaks may not provide enough surface area for the magnet to maintain good contact with the barrel to stay affixed. Removing the muzzle break / flash hider from the weapon to boresight or using a 1” washer is a quick fix in these special situations. This does not indicate a defect. The boresight should be positioned where the battery compartment is facing upward to ensure the battery sleeve does not fall out of the opening designed to hold the batteries inside plastic sleeve. Special situations would be as follows, Flash Hiders larger than the diameter of 50bmg, Crowned Barrels, Large Muzzle Breaks. Boresights that attach via magnet are designed to be used when the weapon is still or in a Gun Vice or held in place in some fashion, slight movements or jarring the weapon can dislodge the boresight from the barrel. Removed Flash Hiders from the AR platforms it allowed for more surface area for the magnet to attach and stay attached. Some cases this is not an option, you will have to brace the weapon while bore sighting to ensure the device does not move or come loose
